My Top 10 2021 DIY Transformations.

2021 has been the year of the DIY, and with the year coming to an end I took a look back at some of my favourite transformations. With so many great thrifted finds from the Salvation Army Thrift store it was tough to choose, but here are a few of my favourites!

Number 10- Curvy Stool

This tired looking stool was in good condition but needed a revamp. A coat of paint on the base with a little dark wax on the legs to add some depth- I even painted the fabric on the seat for a quick and easy refresh that made it feel like leather!

Number 9- Pottery Barn Hack Demijohn Vase

This was not a transformation, but this Demijohn vase was such a great find I had to include it in my top ten. A similar Pottery Barn vase retails for over $250 and I found this one for only $8.99!

Number 8- Floral Jewelry Box

This outdated jewelry box was an easy and fun DIY. With just two coats of crisp white paint, adding floral furniture transfers, and gold gilding wax on the hardware brings a big, dramatic impact for this jewelry box.

Number 7- Pottery Barn Inspired Vases

I love a good design hack! I started by priming these vases, then added Sea Spray (a texture medium) into some Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral paint to add some texture. I blended a few warm paint colours onto the vases to give it an aged, rustic look.

Number 6- Rustic Lamp

This thrifted lamp was the perfect size and shape, but the colour did not work for my space. I added some texture medium and painted the base to create a faux ceramic finish. I love the transformation and how well it works in my space.

Number 5- Earthy Bed

This solid wood Gibbard bed frame was an amazing find! I painted it in a rich, warm brown, a perfect contrast to my duvet cover.

Number 4- Industrial Mirror

This outdated, orange mirror was given a quick and easy refresh. Two coats of black paint transformed and updated this tired find into a modern, industrial mirror.

Number 3- Classic White Vanity

A couple of coats of white paint transformed this vanity into a classic statement piece.

Number 2- Kitschy pasta bowl to rustic patina finish

I love a big transformation and this DIY did not disappoint! I used Dixie Belle Paint Company Patina paints and Patina spray to give this kitschy pasta bowl a rusty, encrusted finish.

Number 1- Blended Magnolia Flower Hutch

This thrifted hutch was an amazing find but needed some love. I painted and blended this beauty with two gorgeous blues and added some Magnolia furniture transfers. This thrifted find is a gorgeous statement piece making it number one on the list for 2021 DIY transformations!
